Sometimes a crate doesn’t make it through the trip in one piece. Maybe it got dropped on a dock. It could have been poorly constructed. Maybe something shifted during transit and broke free. Maybe a forklift went through the wrong spot. Whatever happened, now you’ve got damaged freight sitting somewhere, and someone needs it fixed before it can keep moving.
That’s what we do. Freight carriers, brokers, and shippers reach out to us when a crate shows up unsafe to move and the clock is ticking. We’ll get out to the freight, assess what we’re working with, and put together a repair or re-crate.
What freight rescue actually looks like
We handle the situation end to end. That usually means:
- Responding quickly, often same day or next day, depending on where the freight is
- Inspecting the cargo and documenting the damage with photos for your claim
- Righting tipped machinery, securing shifted contents, and stabilizing the load
- Repairing the existing crate if it’s salvageable, or rebuilding a new one if it isn’t
- Re-packing the contents with proper blocking, bracing, and cushioning
- Coordinating with the carrier so the shipment can get back on the road
We’ve taken calls on everything from a 1500 pound machine that broke free and tipped inside its crate to smaller damaged shipments where the contents needed to be returned to the manufacturer. Most of the time, with the right approach, the cargo is in better shape than people expect once we get it upright and inspected.
